The advantage of a pneumatic motor over an electric motor is its robustness. A pneumatic motor, if well lubricated, is virtually indestructible. It has a lot of torque and does not require an electronic "board" to operate. This means it is perfectly interchangeable with any other pneumatic motor regardless of brand or model. An electric motor is lighter and more precise in its speed adjustment, but like any modern device it requires its own electronic board, which means that only a motor of the same model from the same brand can operate in its place.

This means that in the event of a breakdown, the motor must be replaced with the same one and repaired by the brand's after-sales service, at the price of major brand after-sales service..... The repair being very often more expensive than the price of a new pneumatic motor......
