The particular feature of electric dental micromotors is that they can only operate with their own dedicated electronic control board. Thus, a Bien Air brand motor cannot operate with a Kavo or Sirona electronic control board. In addition to this, each brand has developed a power cord with its own specific connector, meaning that not only is the electrical system different from one brand to another, but so is the connector.
Thus, when you have a faulty electric motor, the only solution is to replace the motor with an equivalent from the same brand, or to have it repaired. However, you must also first ensure that it is not the electronic control board that is malfunctioning.
The Coxo electric motor works on the same principle. Its own dedicated connector and electronic control board.
In order to use the Coxo motor, the electronic control unit must first be inserted into the dental chair, the digital speed control box installed, and the motor cord connected.
It is a straightforward operation for those experienced with it, but it requires dismantling the chair console, along with an electrical connection. Calling in a professional is recommended.
